Why a CCD Camera?
CCD and CMOS
imagers were both invented in the late 1960s and 1970s (DALSA
founder and CEO Dr. Savvas Chamberlain was a pioneer in
developing both technologies). CCD became the preferred
and dominant technology, primarily because it gave far
superior images with fabrication technology economically
available. CMOS image sensors required more uniformity and
smaller features.
Most of the cameras that are sold on eBay are CMOS
cameras. CCD Cameras are usually
twice the price and the pictures are up to 10
times clearer, brighter and more
colorful.
This type of
camera does not like direct sunlight into the camera, so
please position it where it is somewhat protected from
direct sunlight. The adjustable hood for the camera will
help you do this.

Second
This is
a 60 frames per second card. (NTSC - North American Video
Standard) When it is being used to run PAL cameras
(European Video Standard) the frames per second rate is
50.
If you
attach one camera to the card then it will view and record
at 60 frames per second.
If you attach two cameras, that
resource is shared between the two cameras, and you can
view and record at 30 frames per second.
If you attach
four cameras, then you can view and record at 15 frames
per second.
A YouTube video can be 5 frames per second or less!
Why frames per second
is NOT THAT
IMPORTANT!!!!
Well, it
is, if you are using the card to study the mating habits
of hummingbirds!
But we believe that the
object in good surveillance is to be able to obtain high
quality images that you can email to the police, print out
on your color inkjet, and that can be used to prosecute an
offender.
Running four cameras on this card, an illegal act that
takes 1-2 seconds, will produce 15 - 30 pictures that you
can use to prove your case to the police!!!
As soon as you go to the
internet viewing, however, your frame rate will drop,
because the internet slows down the process. It may
decrease it to 2-8 frames per second, depending on your
connection.
