Why Power/Video Cables?

This is the best and easiest way to power your cameras. No need to find power outlets at the camera location. No need to pay an electrician to install more power lines and outlets. Even if there was a power outlet outside, this way there is no concern about protecting the power adaptors from rain and snow.

The power adaptors will then go into a power bar right next to your computer. The power side of the cable brings power to your camera from your power bar. The video side of the cable brings the video signal to your computer from the camera.

This is a 30 frames per second card. (NTSC - North American Video Standard) When it is being used to run PAL cameras (European Video Standard) the frames per second rate is 25.

If you attach one camera to the card then it will view and record at 30 frames per second. If you attach two cameras, that resource is shared between the two cameras, and you can view and record at 15 frames per second. If you attach four cameras, then you can view and record at 7.5 frames per second.

Why frames per second is NOT THAT IMPORTANT!!!!

Well, it is, if you are using the card to study the mating habits of hummingbirds!

But we believe that the object in good surveillance is to be able to obtain high quality images that you can email to the police, print out on your color inkjet, and that can be used to prosecute an offender.

Running four cameras on this card, and viewing an illegal act that takes 1-2 seconds, the card will produce 7 - 15 pictures that you can use to prove your case to the police!!!

This card is by far your most cost effective choice for professional surveillance. If you absolutely need higher frame rates, consider buying more than one card, and then you could have up to 4 cards in one machine, driving 4 cameras, each with 30 frames per second viewing and recording.

As soon as you go to the internet viewing, however, your frame rate will drop again, because the internet slows down the process.

Bottom line, 30 frames per second total resource is most likely all you need in 95% of the time you need surveillance.

The software analyses the image from the cameras connected and starts recording when movement is detected and stops when movement is no longer detected. The movement detection is being processed by the software so you do not need special cameras. Any camera can be set up for motion detection.

To minimize false detection the user can adjust the sensitivity to ignore small movements like rain or birds.

Areas of the cameras view can be 'masked' so movement on the road outside your premises is ignored but movement on the pavement or driveway is not ignored.

The capture card will now only record when movement is detected in the selected areas.

You can also enable 'pre-alarm' and 'post alarm' recording to 'capture seconds of footage before and after the motion detect was activated as not to miss anything.

Scheduled recording You can set up a daily, or weekly timer for when you want to record. For greater control you can set each camera to have it's own recording mode Example: cam1 motion detect, cam2 constant, cam3 timer etc. You can also record 24 hours. All recordings can be digitally stamped with camera name, time and date. 

Smart Recording Video Search Playback  
This allows the user to playback footage using the Supplied Video Player Software  while still recording so as not to miss anything. Events can be found by time/date and camera number. You can adjust the speed of playback and also save the images as an AVI file to a floppy disk or 'capture' an image to print to your printer.

You can burn the video recorded from your DVR card onto a CD or DVD. You can even email it to the authorities. Just as long as you have Windows 95/98, 2000, ME, or XP you can replay the remote video from your DVR card without the need of expensive additional software!

I recently bought one of your DVR capture cards and  I have installed the program called Dico800 that so many people have recommended to me.

By using Dico800 software and drivers, I am able to use my web browser to view rather than a  remote client program. It means I can see my surveillance server computer from any internet computer in the world, without having to install a client program on it. I just use a browser program such as Internet Explorer.
 

I want to be able to monitor the video over the internet using my Macintosh computer; the the combination of Dico 800 and my Mac Internet Browser is the best choice for me.

One thing to note regarding the Dico 800 v40_1128 is that when you run the setup it has an option to install the webserver, I don't think you need to run that for the Internet Explorer function to work but you might (there should be a webserver option in settings under "web register"), and if you do have to run the webserver install it will fail, then a few moments later show a "Wagent" window that will ask what view you want (ie 1 camera, 4 cameras) but the feature still works.

Should I choose Wireless or Wired Cameras?

There are many retailers offering wireless cameras these days, and boasting about the range, and quality as well as the ease of installation of these cameras...However, they neglect to inform you of the MAJOR FLAWS of a wireless camera system!

Wireless cameras are not secure! These cameras are easy to install, but they can allow a professional, or even an amateur who has a few dollars and access to a Radio Shack® store, to see inside your house or business, and case the robbery from the outside.

This defeats the purpose of a Security Surveillance System!!! Now you never know who is watching you on your own cameras!

These cameras operate on very crowded frequency bands which can be interfered with by a Mobile Phone, Wireless Access-Point, Wireless Network Card, or many other wireless devices. This also demonstrates how easy it is to disable the camera system from outside of your home or business.

Wireless cameras are not stable. The pictures flip, and the least disturbance in the area, such as a person walking by the receiver can disturb the picture.

Finally, the wireless cameras broadcast on the same frequency. You can only have one wireless camera in an area. There are multiple frequency cameras that come with multiple frequency receivers, but not only do the cost 3-4 times more, they are also not reliable, and suffer from channel drift as the video from one channels drifts into the next.

In our our experience a Wired Surveillance System is the only solution!. However, if you want to change one wired camera in this kit to a wireless camera please contact us.

Shipping Location
We ship from seven different locations. We have warehousing in the States (Illinois, Ohio and New York), Hong Kong, our shop in Saskatchewan, Canada, and we have a factory in China. We ship directly to you from all seven locations.

The cameras, capture cards, small cables, some power adaptors and USB capture devices are shipped to you by International Registered Air Mail from our factory in China. The 25 foot and larger and heavier cables with power adaptors are usually shipped to from our US warehouse.

You should count on us shipping this item within 3-6 working days of your payment arriving. Often we will be faster.

Insurance
All shipments MUST be insured. This policy prevents disappointment. Our insurance includes the cost of the outgoing shipping cost of the item, so you are FULLY covered.

You are protected, for not only the value of the item, but also for the shipping cost that you have paid to have the item shipped to you.
