This is the right card
for you if -
1. You want
the MOST economical capture card on the market
2. Have or
are buying cameras with an RCA video signal.
3. Need to record events and
need motion detection.
4. Want to view your cameras
from anywhere over the internet
5. You "appreciate" our
WORLDWIDE FREE SHIPPING
6. Have
Win 98,
Media. 2000,
XP, VISTA 32 operating
System.
7. Have a Pentium II or higher
machine you want to dedicate to your surveillance project
instead of throwing it away.
This is
a 30 frames per second card. (NTSC - North American Video
Standard) When it is being used to run PAL cameras
(European Video Standard) the frames per second rate is
25.
If you
attach one camera to the card then it will view and record
at 30 frames per second. If you attach two cameras, that
resource is shared between the two cameras, and you can
view and record at 15 frames per second. If you attach
four cameras, then you can view and record at 7.5 frames
per second.
A YouTube video can be 5 frames per second or less!
Why frames per second
is NOT THAT
IMPORTANT!!!!
Well, it
is, if you are using the card to study the mating habits
of hummingbirds!
But we believe that the
object in good surveillance is to be able to obtain high
quality images that you can email to the police, print out
on your color inkjet, and that can be used to prosecute an
offender.
Running four cameras on this card, an illegal act that
takes 1-2 seconds, will produce 7 - 15 pictures that you
can use to prove your case to the police!!!
This card is by far your
most cost effective choice for professional surveillance.
If you absolutely need higher frame rates, consider buying
more than one card, and then you could have up to 4 cards
in one machine, driving 4 cameras, each with 30 frames per
second viewing and recording.
As soon as you go to the
internet viewing, however, your frame rate will drop
again, because the internet slows down the process.
Bottom line, 30 frames per
second total resource is most likely all you need in 95%
of the time you need surveillance.
Need to Drive more then
4 Cameras?
Want to drive 8 cameras -
Purchase 2 cards - need 2 PCI slots
Want to drive 12 cameras - Purchase 3 cards - need 3 PCI slots
Want to drive 16 cameras - Purchase 4 cards - need 4 PCI slots

PICO 2000
There are
countless PICO installations out there.
This card will replace any
defective card that has
been running a Pico Program.
PICO v1.8 - bootleg program - we do not support
- we sell the licensed version. See our notes below.
The Far East CCTV
suppliers have a different respect for copyright than the rest of
us. For years they have widely distributed a bootleg copy of PICO
2000 that was written for Pentium II - 500 Megahertz system with 128
megs of RAM.
This illegal program has install issues, is not fully functional,
and is not stable.
We are authorized resellers of the
fully Licensed and fully supported version of PICO v1.9. The 4
camera version sells for $40.00 in our eBay Store. More details
below.

Linux
Here is
an email from a Linux User.
Hi DuncansOnline,
Thanks again for your detailed recommendations; I just
wanted to give you some feedback regarding my progress.
As you predicted, the capture card worked fine under XP/MCE,
although I ended up preferring DICO over PICO, mostly
because I haven't liked setting my screen resolution to
800x600 since 1995 or so.
Anyway, what's much more exciting is that I actually managed
to get the card working under Linux today. Or rather - it
worked pretty much out of the box (I am running Fedora Core
5 on AMD64) without me doing much at all. And while that was
a bit of a pain in the butt ('cos you need MySQL and httpd/php
and such), I also got it working using ZoneMinder (web-based
surveillance tool).
So that's quite nice, since I really like my box running
under Linux for
work purposes, and the web-based access seems much more
thought through than what's in either PICO or DICO.
Enjoy ;)
Torsten
Note from DuncansOnline:
We notice with a Google search there is lots of support and
discussion amongst Linux users for this card. That is good,
because we are not Linux people and can provide no support
in this area. Thankfully the support is out there.
