Security Eyes Pro and Internet Explorer
Posted: 06 Jun 06 12:27 PM

I've been having a GREAT challenge in setting up my video card dvr (PV143APROA) for viewing using Internet Explorer. I've read your remote viewing guide and was wondering if I am to use this same configuration for Internet Explorer.  Please help...I'm coming to my wit's end.  Thank you!!!

By the way, I'm currently using a D-Link (A-5124) router and have set my port settings to what you suggested for remote viewing...I only want to access my dvr via Internet Explorer (watching anywhere, worldwide).  So, the ports that I've set up are for 80 and 7000.  If I reconfigure my port setting in Security EYES (from 80 to, lets say 4000), will it still work or do I need to keep port 80?

Finally, is there any way that I'll compromise my security by keeping port 80 open?

Thank you for your help!

When setting up your Security Eyes Pro Card for Internet Explorer Remote Viewing, there are several things that need to be done:

1.  Make sure that "Web Cam" and "TCP/IP" are selected in the "Start Set" section of the Main System Settings.
2.  Restart the Security Eyes Server, and Ensure that the "Start Monitor" is running
3.  Forward ports 80 (TCP) and 7000 (TCP & UDP) are forwarded to the internal IP Address of your machine
4.  Ensure your ISP is not blocking port 80 traffic - Many ISP (Internet Service Providers) are blocking this port to prevent hosting websites from your home internet connection.  If this is the case, you will have to change the port in Security Eyes Pro to a different port (for example 82) and forward the same port in your router to the correct PC...then when you connect, you will have to connect to your IP address:82 for example http://65.37.190.14:82  The (Colon 82) will send it to the correct port.

Hopefully this will help you,

Setting up Recording and Motion Detection

Please read this manual and let me know if that helps the recording issue for you

Security Eyes® Pro Motion Detection

After I got off the phone with you I tried to schedule short

recording periods as well as changing the location on the hard drive where the files were stored.

While I was able to set the location of the file, there was nothing in the files themselves. I've looked in other files as well, but can't find them. I have a feeling it didn't record at all. If you can ask your technician to provide guidance with that as well.

First, Set up the schedule in the Scheduler.

Then Set up the "Start Set" under the System Settings (Main tab) – Select the following

  • Schedule Server
  • Start Monitor
  • TCP/IP Server
  • WebCam Server

Then, the "Start Monitor" needs to be checked for recording to take place. (With the settings in the "Start Set" above, you will only need to exit the software and re-enter it for the monitor to be active.

Then it will record the files to the folder specified in the System Settings.

That is a very common problem, as the manual on Security Eyes can be a bit difficult to sort through.

Have a look at this easy manual to get the Scheduler set up and operating properly in Security Eyes Pro.

Some of the screenshots are a bit old, but the scheduler setup is still the same.

http://platinum-cctv.net/downloads/instructions/dvr/security_eyes/security_eyes_scheduler.pdf

After completing the scheduler setup, make sure to enable "Schedule Server" and "Start Monitor" in the "Start Set" area of the Main System Settings Page.

Hopefully this will help you get your Security Eyes System going!
