Lock up on DVR - November 2012
This problem has come up yesterday on a couple of our DVRs from different customers.......we are still researching it, but we have made some progress in trying to figure out what is happening and how to correct it.
It seems the problem only happens with firmware version V2.1_0209. We are still confirming this however...
Upgrading to the newer firmware version should fix this issue.
To do a firmware upgrade you need menu access and NO rebooting.
To get the menu to work, you need to remove the hard drive, all cameras and especially the Network cable.
We understand that the DVR is trying to update Daylight Savings Time, and it is crashing when it tries to do so.
By removing the network cable you are preventing this update process from taking place. By removing the hard drive you are creating a simpler working environment for the DVR. By removing the cameras you are assuring there will be no outside interference to the DVR during the firmware upgrade.
Print out these instructions, read them over a couple of times, then follow them closely.

How to upgrade:
1) Extract the ZIP package, copy all the files to USB flash disk root directory
2) Disconnect RJ45 cable from the DVR
3) Enter into "MAIN MENU ---> SYSTEM ---> SYSTEM MAINTENANCE ---> F/W UPDATE" to upgrade firmware.
4) Firmware upgrading takes 3 ~ 5 minutes.
And the DVR will reboot while upgrading.
DO NOT REMOVE THE USB FLASH WHEN DVR IS REBOOTING.
5) Reset the DVR to factory default from DVR's:
MAIN MENU ---> SYSTEM ---> SYSTEM MAINTENANCE ---> LOAD DEFAULT
6) Format the hard drive
